CRANBURY: Township to have first National Night Out

The event is co-sponsored by Cranbury FOP Lodge No. 68

   CRANBURY — Tuesday, Aug. 6, all neighborhoods in the township are asked to join forces with the Cranbury Township Police Department FOP Lodge No. 68 and thousands of communities nationwide for the 30th annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.
   National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by Cranbury FOP Lodge No. 68.
   In all 15,704 communities from all 50 states, with more than 37.5 million people, are expected to participate in America’s Night Out Against Crime. National Night Out corporate sponsors for 2013 are Target, Nextdoor.com and Associa.
   National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.
   From 5 to 9 p.m. in Village Park, off Maplewood Avenue, all residents in all neighborhoods in Cranbury are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with friends, neighbors, members of the Cranbury Police Department, Cranbury Fire Department and Cranbury EMS.
   Some of the activities include DJ Reggie, moon bounces, a dunk tank, food, drinks, a car show and more.
   This is the first year Cranbury is participating in the National Night Out event.
