NEW HOPE: NJDOT road work in Lambertville Thursday night

Project will impede eastbound travel across bridge from New Hope

Road work scheduled to take place along Bridge Street (Route 179) in Lambertville will render the commission’s New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge inaccessible to motor vehicles in the eastbound direction (from New Hope to Lambertville)between 8 p.m. Thursday (July 25), and 6 a.m. Friday (July 26).
Westbound travel across the bridge (from Lambertville to New Hope) is not expected to be affected by the overnight travel restriction, although short-duration delays may be experienced due to heavy equipment. The bridge’s pedestrian walkway also will remain open for public use during the period.
Eastbound traffic will be blocked from the bridge on the New Hope side and a detour will direct those vehicles to the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge, slightly upriver along the Delaware River. (There is no toll in the eastbound direction at the toll bridge.)
The eastbound travel restriction is necessary to allow for execution of roadway reconstruction and resurfacing activities along Bridge Street (Route 179) in Lambertville, which is owned and maintained by the NJ Department of Transportation.
The scheduled travel restrictions by the NJDOT’s contractor – Arawak Paving Co, Inc. of Hammonton – are weather permitting.
