MANVILLE: Police blotter, week of July 15-21

Items from headquarters records

   • A Lucia Street man came to police headquarters on July 15 at 12:26 p.m. and reported losing his wallet in the Walmart parking lot on North Main Street between 12:30 p.m. and 1 on July 15. The value of the wallet is $10 and contained $30 in cash and perhaps his New Jersey firearms identification card.
      • A North 2nd Avenue woman came to headquarters on July 15 at 1:29 p.m. claiming that a set of keys were missing from her home after her daughter had friends over on July 14. The police are investigating.
   • On July 15 at 2:17 p.m. a Field Street woman reported her friends might have been swept down the river along North Main Street. Police found two men intoxicated in the water. A man who is a resident of Brown Avenue, Iselin, was given a summons for disorderly conduct and lewdness.
   • A West Camplain Road woman reported on July 15 at 6:25 p.m. that she found a small amount of what she thought was marijuana and a wallet in her home.
   • An Angle Avenue woman reported her iPhone 4 missing from her home at 11:21 a.m. on July 16. Police are investigating.
   • On July 16 at 7:55 p.m. a Royce Court, Hillsborough, man reported his vehicle had scratches on the passenger side and a boot mark on the door. The man said his vehicle was parked from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South 5th Avenue in Manville. The value of the damage is unknown.
   • A Bedminster woman came to police headquarters on July 16 at 9:31 p.m. claiming she is receiving harassing text messages and private Facebook messages at her South 20th Avenue employment. The Larkspur Court resident said the messages are coming from her mother-in-law, a Basking Ridge resident. Police contacted the mother-in-law and advised her to stop calling the Bedminster woman.
   • A North 7th Avenue man reported on July 17 at 5:02 p.m. that six fake checks were made using his information from Somerset Savings Bank. The man did not lose any money.
   • On July 17 at 8:24 p.m. a woman reported her son’s HTC Nexus phone, valued at $300, was stolen from the Memorial Park Pool between 2 to 6:30 p.m.
   • A South Reading Street man reported on July 18 at 10:46 a.m. that the lock on his safe was broken and a reported $97,000 in cash was missing. The man said the money went missing between July 16 at 7:30 p.m. and July 17 at 11 p.m.
   • On July 18 at 11:56 a.m. an officer reported a possible theft at Adesa Auto Auction on North Main Street. A Staten Island, N.Y., man accused a Helmetta man of taking $1,000 from his pocket. Police checked video footage but did not see anything.””
   • On July 18 at 12:57 p.m. a man came to headquarters and reported the Pennsylvania dealer tag of his employer was removed from a black Nissan Sentra in the front Adesa lot between 8:30 and 11 a.m. on July 18.
   • A woman called Friday at 12:22 a.m. claiming that a women’s purse had been stolen at Quick Chek on Brooks Boulevard and the woman had the purse, allegedly in her locked vehicle with the windows down. The black purse contained bank and credit cards, personal papers, a driver’s license, an LG Smartphone and $170 in cash. Total estimated value is $340. At 1:05 p.m. Quick Chek employees reported finding the empty purse that had been stolen.
   • A South 15th Avenue man reported on Friday at 10:05 p.m. that a dog attacked his dog. Animal control took the loose dog to the shelter.
   • A South 20th Avenue man came to headquarters on Saturday at 4:40 p.m. to report his iPhone 5 had been stolen from his group home. The iPhone and case are valued at $999.
   • A man reported on Saturday at 6:55 p.m. his dark red and black Huffy mountain bike was taken from his front porch. The South 15th Avenue man said the bike was taken between July 18 at 11 a.m. and July 20 at 6:30 p.m. The bike is valued at $95.
   • A White Avenue man reported finding a white-and-orange and black Magna 26-inch men’s mountain bike in front of his home at 6:21 a.m. on Sunday. Police took the bike into evidence as found property.
   • On Sunday at 6:23 p.m. a White Avenue man reported finding a red-and-black Mongoose 26-inch men’s mountain bike on West Frech Avenue. Police took the bike into evidence as found property.
   • On Sunday at 11:58 a.m. a caller reported a mulch fire on the Sacred Heart Property near the intersection of West Camplain Road and South Main Street. The scene was turned over to the Manville Fire Department.
