Manville Area Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 6573 presented the Arc of Somerset County in Manville with a $750 donation Tuesday afternoon.
Member Andy Hando presented a check for $750 to Lauren Panarella, the executive director.
”You have been very, very generous,” Ms. Panarella said. “I think the Knights of Columbus have been a consistent and generous community partner and I think their donations really make a significant difference to our ability to provide services for children and adults with disabilities.” The money was raised from collections in the late spring at Sacred Heart, Christ the King and St. Mary’s, according to Mr. Hando
Mr. Hando was proud to show one of the activities of the Knights of Columbus.
”I would like the parishioners of St Mary’s Sacred Heart Church and Christ the King churches to know because without them helping us we wouldn’t be able to do this.”
”The ARC of Somerset provides services to individuals with disabilities and their families. It runs the early childhood Jerry Davis Center in Manville. There are 26 residential homes throughout the county, a summer camp in Warren and four employment centers for people with disabilities.
Ms. Panarella said, “A donation like this one could be used for scholarships for camp for two children or day care for two children. We really try to make sure these donations from our community impact directly children and adults with disabilities.”
Mr. Hando said he wished the donation could be larger, but Ms. Panarella said, “Every little bit helps. We are just appreciative to have you in our neighborhood and Manville community here.”
