HILLSBOROUGH: Fire displaces two residents

A fire in a second-floor bedroom at 910 Renate Drive on Saturday around 11:22 p.m. has displaced the apartment’s two residents, an adult and a teenager.

   A fire in a second-floor bedroom at 910 Renate Drive on Saturday around 11:22 p.m. has displaced the apartment’s two residents, an adult and a teenager.
   There was four people in the apartment at the time of the fire.
   The fire was contained to one unit and there were no reported injuries, police said. Police Capt. Paul Merkler said the cause does not appear to be suspicious and it is being investigated by the township’s Fire Safety Unit.
   The displaced residents were moved to a Flemington hotel by Hillsborough’s Office of Emergency Management.
   Three Hillsborough fire units responded, as well as companies from Neshanic, Montgomery, Finderne, Manville, East Millstone and South Middlebush. Hillsborough, Somerville and East Millstone rescue squads responded. Hillsborough fire safety and building departments were on the scene.
