Thursdays
   Lawrenceville Main Street (LMS) will host its 12th annual Music in the Park summer concert series on Thursdays at 7 p.m. The weekly concerts run through Aug. 22, with the exception of July 4. All concerts take place in Weeden Park on Main Street (Route 206) just south of Craven Lane in Lawrenceville. Bring blankets or chairs to relax in the open air.

   Ralph Schlegel, a retired editorial cartoonist, will exhibit illustrations and cartoons that appeared over a 30-year period in the Times of Trenton, Newsweek, Business Week, Smithsonian Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, The New York Times, as covers of U.S. News & World Report and other publications, at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch Library. The display will also include work from children’s books and greeting cards designed by Mr. Schlegel.

Thirteen year-old Marta has recently moved back to southern Italy with her mother and older sister and struggles to find her place, restlessly testing the boundaries of an unfamiliar city and the catechism of the Catholic Church.    Zen Gardens at 7 p.m. free at the Lawrence Nature Center, 481 Drexel Ave., Lawrence. Create and take home your own small zen garden of beauty and tranquility. Teresita Bastides-Heron, member of the Lawrence Nature Center Board and the Garden Gate Garden Club, will show children and adults how to create a zen garden, the Western world’s name for a Japanese Rock Garden. Fall 1959: Another year begins at Welton Academy, a secluded Vermont prep school. This year, seven students will encounter a teacher, played by Robin Williams, whose ideas about learning inspire them to pursue their individual passions, explore new horizons of self-expression, and discover the excitement of a world outside Welton’s strict curriculum in this outstanding drama of inspiration and commitment.    Science Fiction Book Club discusses “Caves of Steel” by Isaac Asminov at 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Branch of the Mercer County Library System, 2751 Brunswick Pike. Isaac Asimov’s mid-20th century tale combines science fiction and detection. Elijah Baley is a police detective, content in his work and his life until the day his boss assigns him the most delicate and dangerous case of his career. A Spacer scientist has been murdered by an Earthman, and Baley is responsible for finding the culprit and avoiding increased tension between the City and Spacetown. But, of course, he’s not going to be allowed to work alone. He has been assigned a partner from Spacetown, R. Daneel Olivaw and the R. stands for robot. Refreshments served.
