Mr. Helrich, 89, of Marlboro, formerly of North Brunswick, died July 19, 2013, at home. Prior to retiring in 1985, Mr. Helrich, a research chemist, was a professor at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where he taught and did research for 38 years. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Alice Rosen Helrich; two sons, David of Long Branch, and Howard and his wife, Robin, of Hopkinton, N.H.; a daughter, Marsha Schwartz and her husband, Howard, of Marlboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick, followed by interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
