What might have been a mountain lion was spotted Saturday on Mount Lucas Road, authorities said.
The call came in to Princeton police around 7:30 p.m. Animal control officer Mark Johnson said the couple who reported it indicated the cat came across their driveway but did not try to make contact with them. He said he searched the area without finding any trace of the cat.
Mr. Johnson said mountain lions are predatory animals that people should not try to approach. Mr. Johnson said if people come across one, they should make sure the animal knows they are there, do not go near it and back away. He said people should not turn and run from such an animal.
