Networking Opens a New Door for Glen Eagle Advisors, LLC

By Eileen Monesson
Susan McGlory Michel, founder and CEO of Glen Eagle Advisors, LLC one of the leading financial advisory firms in the Mid-Atlantic Region as well as a Certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC) is no stranger to networking. She built her business over the past 25 years by developing and nurturing business relationships with contacts. As a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO), Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO), Michel knows the value of relation building. She also knows that you never can tell where a relationship could lead you.
“I met Tara Conti, CFP® in 2011 at a NJAWBO New Member Meeting. At the time, Tara was expecting her first child,” Susan Michel says. “As a mother of four, I know how challenging it can be for a new working mother. Balancing work and home life can be trying, especially in the male dominated world of financial services. I felt fortunate to share some of my experiences with Tara.”
Two years later, Michel and Conti crossed paths again at another NJAWBO meeting. “I never forgot the advice and encouragement that Susan gave me years ago,” adds Conti. “Encouragement from a like-minded woman who knew that it was possible to have the best of both worlds empowered me.”
Several months later the two women met for lunch. Neither expected more than a good conversation, let alone a business arrangement. That lunch ultimately led to Conti joining the Glen Eagle Advisors team.  Tara summed up why she moved, “What I realized is that Susan is committed to creating an environment where women advisors can have both a successful career and family.  Many firms talk about this, but Glen Eagle really delivers on this promise, because Susan knows from first-hand experience the challenges of being both a successful financial advisor and a good Mom.”
Just as Glen Eagle Advisors brings a holistic approach to its work environment, Conti brings to the firm a focus on providing holistic financial planning services.  “Financial planning is really about helping people reach their life goals. These goals are often about family and life style, not about how many dollars are in your account,” adds Conti. This is a consistent message at Glen Eagle Advisors, “whether it is our employees or our clients we realize that success and satisfaction is not just one dimensional,” summarized Susan.
A resident of Princeton, NJ, Conti comes to Glen Eagle Advisors from Main Street Financial Solutions where she helped clients align their priorities and values with what they want in life. She then created custom financial plans to help her clients achieve their desired goals. Prior to that, Conti worked for EKS Associates in Princeton as a financial planner and Andersen Consulting/Accenture as a financial software consultant and manager.
