Elks clambake coming up Sept. 7
Elks Lodge plans a clambake
Sat., Sept. 7 — The Manville-Hillsborough Elks Lodge will have its 22nd annual clam bake at 1500 Brooks Blvd., Hillsborough, 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets $35 for adults and $15 for children 11-17.
There will be clams, chicken, sausage and peppers, hot dogs and salads, as well as a 50-50 and a live band. Rain date is Sept 8.

Auxiliary schedules fall flea markets
Sat., Sept. 7 — Flea markets behind the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 at 375 Route 206 and Hamilton Road start at 9 a.m.
Outside spaces are $15 each. Vendors can show up the day of market without a reservation.
The flea markets also will be held Sept. 21 and Oct. 5.

Theater season to be unveiled
Mon., Sept. 9 — Hillsborough High School Theatre holds its opening night concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in auditorium of the high school, 466 Raider Blvd. Broadway stars will celebrate announcement of the school theater season by performing from “Cinderella,“ “Hairspray,“ “Les Miserables,“ “The Lion King“ and “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark.“ Admission is $10. Ceremonies laud terror victims
Wed., Sept. 11 — Two fire companies will hold events remembering the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The Hillsborough Woods Road Fire Company will hold a memorial ceremony at its firehouse, 324 Woods Road, at 7 p.m. There will be a color guard, playing of taps, and a reading of the names of the fallen 9-11 first responders. This event is open to the public with refreshments served afterwards.
Fire Company No. 2 will hold its annual ceremony from 9:45 to about 10:30 at firehouse on Route 206. Names of the first responders killed in the terrorist attack that day will be read.
Insider gives tips on finding a job
Wed., Sept. 11— Jewish Family Service offers a free support group for job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change from 7-9 p.m. at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC, 775 Talamini Road, Bridgewater.
The topic is “An Insider’s View of What it Takes to Get Hired” presented by Allen Weisberg, retired VP of human resources at Johnson & Johnson.

Robotics team hosts golf outing
Mon., Sept. 16 — High school RoboRaiders robotics team wants sponsors and players for a golf outing at Fox Hollow Golf Club, Branchburg.
There will be registration at 11:30 a.m. and a 1 p.m. shotgun start and a 6 p.m. dinner. There will be a raffle and awards.
The cost is $150 per person ($140 each for a foursome) for the day or $40 for the dinner only.
There will be contests for hole-in-one, longest drive and closest to pin.

Club plans monthly meeting
Thurs., Sept. 26 — Neshanic Garden Club will hear a program on “The Art of Underwater Design” at its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station. The program at 11 a.m. will be presented by Susan O’Donnell, both of whom are national accredited flower show judges. Lug a mug to a light luncheon at noon. Woman’s Club holds basket auction
Friday, Sept. 27 — The Woman’s Club of Hillsborough has its annual basket auction at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 379 South Branch Road.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Entry tickets at $10 will be on sale at the door. There will be theme baskets, theater tickets, sports memorabilia and sporting event tickets.

Nonprofit trains altruistic runners
Sun., Sept. 29 — Join Steps Together as train people to participate in the Steeplechase Distance Walk/Run at Amsterdam School. Events offered are a 5-K walk or run, 10-K run and sprints for children. Farmers’ market — The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey holds a weekly market at Duke Farms at 1112 Duke’s Parkway West farm stand. It is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. to sell produce, seedlings and grass-fed lamb from NOFA incubator farms on property.
Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.

Divorce support group — A nondenominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning.
