HILLSBOROUGH: Students earn accolades at college

    Manjula Chava of Hillsborough was in the first class in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa., received their white coats at a spring ceremony.
    The 20 students recited the pledge of a physician assistant promising to adhere to the core values of honesty, integrity, alýPage=002 Column=001 OK,0000.00þ
truism and empathy of the profession.
    The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) degree is an intensive 24-month, year-round program ’in the university’s Bachelor of Science in Medical Science 3+2 program.
    The white coat ceremony signifies the completion of the didactic year of study. The students, members of the inaugural Class of 2014, now move into the clinical phase of their training.

when they graduate and take the Physician Assistant Professional Oath, reminding them to always put the health, safety and privacy of their patients first and at all times be professional.

    James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, will welcome four Hillsborough students to the Class of 2017 this fall.
    They are Maeve McCracken, who plans to major in interdisciplinary liberal studies; Allison Gill (marketing); Devon Wetter (media arts and design) and Kelly Wishard (nursing).

    Laurence Hou, of Hillsborough, was named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring semester at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
    To be selected, a student must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale with at least 12 graded credits.
    Laurence is the son of Zugang Hou and Hongyu Tang and attended Hillsborough High School. He is an arts and sciences pre-major scheduled to graduate in May 2016.

    Several Hillsborough students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Villanova (Pa.) University.
    They are:
    Kyle Mahlstedt and Ryan Rew, who are studying accountancy;
    Andrew Gabriel (economics) ;
    Meaghan Kelly and Lauren Troeller, both of whom are studying finance;
    Kelly Gabriel (marketing);
    Maureen Lynch (nursing);
    Renee Bissonnette (criminal justice);
    Natalie Puzio (political science);
    Sara Cassimatis and Arielle Urban, both of whom are studying psychology, and
    Frank Batulaugh, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the College of Engineering.
    Recipients are honored by their college’s respective dean. To qualify, one must be a matriculated full-time student and earn a semester grade point average of at least 3.5.The College of Nursing requires students to earn at least a 3.5

    Alexandra M. Mazzarese of Hillsborough earned dean’s list honors at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia for the spring semester.
    Alexandra is majoring in interdisciplinary health services. Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all classes, and complete at least 15 credits.

    Four Hillsborough students who are students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., have been named to spring dean’s list for academic achievement.
    They are Daniel Illein, Victoria Jones, Deepali Khosla and Adam Koehr.
