Old Bridge board appoints Hoeker to assistant super post

OLD BRIDGE — A former township schoolteacher and elementary school principal has been appointed to serve as assistant superintendent of schools.

Kathleen Hoeker will take over the role previously held by David Cittadino, who was recently promoted to superintendent of schools.

The Board of Education gave Hoeker a one-year contract that is effective through June 2014, with a prorated salary of $168,500 and an additional prorated stipend of $1,000 for her Doctorate of Education degree from Nova South Eastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

For more than a decade, Hoeker has taught in the elementary schools and served as a school principal, most recently at Madison Park Elementary School. During that time, she spearheaded initiatives that resulted in Madison Park being recognized as one of three National Schools of Character in New Jersey.

Hoeker has served as co-chairwoman of the Instructional Council, a member of the Affirmative Action Team and an administrator mentor. She has worked on several district panels, including the Technology Committee, iPad Investigation Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and Energy Efficiency Committee.
