REFERENDUM LETTER POLICY

For those who want to comment about Sept. 24 special election

Letters to the editor addressing the topic of the Sept. 24 schools regionalization referendum in Lambertville, Stockton and West Amwell should be no more than 300 words and must arrive by email no later than 10 a.m. Mondays.
If necessary, word counts will be made and the writer requested to submit a shorter version if the letter greatly exceeds the word limit.
   — The initial raising of controversial or sensational issues in the rebuttal week edition — Sept. 19 — will not be permitted. Without exception, only comments by readers and candidates on related issues previously raised in The Beacon will be considered for publication that week. Letter writers must make reference to the previously raised issue they are addressing and the individual who raised it when submitting their letters on this topic that week.
Letters should be emailed to [email protected] and should include the writer’s address and daytime telephone number. It is our policy to print the name and address of the letter writer. The telephone number is for purposes of confirmation only and will not be published. We reserve the right to edit letters and to limit length and frequency.
   — Regular letters should not exceed 500 words and should be submitted by noon Mondays.
