Bradley Buxton, 20, of Cold Soil Road, was charged with attempted burglary, possession of an imitation firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of burglary tools at 8:33 p.m. Sept. 1, according to police Lt. Mark Ubry.
Police officers on patrol noticed a car that was parked on Blackwell Road at Cold Soil Road and, due to recent burglaries and thefts from cars, they decided to stop and keep an eye on the car, Lt. Ubry said.
The police officers reported that they saw Mr. Buxton walking back to the car from the vicinity of a nearby house, Lt. Ubry said. They stopped him and upon investigating, they discovered he was in possession of a silver, imitation handgun, plus a hatchet and a pry bar inside a backpack.
The officers checked on the residence and found no entry had been made.
Mr. Buxton was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $50,000 bail.
