Hunterdon Hospice is accepting applications now for its five-week training program, which begins on Oct. 4
Are you a good listener, compassionate and empathetic towards others and want to help people in your community? Do you have special skills such as aroma therapy, cosmetology services, Reiki, massage, or pet therapy? Are you a veteran of US Military services?
Then you may want to consider learning about being a volunteer for Hunterdon Hospice. “We are always looking for special ways to enhance the quality of our patient’s and their families lives, so if any of you have special skills to offer, please do not hesitate to call,” said a spokesman.
Hospice offers a special kind of care designed to support and comfort people living with a terminal illness.
Hunterdon Hospice is offering training, to help educate volunteers about what hospice is, the services it provides and what the role of the volunteer is. This training prepares you to provide support to patients and their families in Hunterdon County. Hunterdon Hospice is accepting applications now for its five-week training program, which begins on Oct. 4.
Volunteers provide valuable emotional support to both patients and families and they keep families connected to the community. Hospice volunteers also help in the office, assist with fundraising events, do community education and outreach, run errands, and assist wherever is needed. The five-week training program covers all aspects of hospice so the volunteer is knowledgeable and comfortable and will be prepared to be with patients and their families.
Hunterdon Hospice is a Medicare-certified, nonprofit organization, which coordinates home-based supportive services in the homes of its patients.
Training classes meet from noon-4 p.m. on Fridays from Oct. 4-Nov.1 at the Hospice Office, 215 Route 31 South, in Flemington.
To arrange for an interview, contact Joy Stump, volunteer coordinator, at 908-788-2573 or e-mail her at [email protected].
