Sovereign Bank recently announced it is officially changing its name to Santander. The announcement applies to all 721 Sovereign Bank branches across the country, including more than 150 in New Jersey. It is the culmination of the 2009 acquisition of Sovereign – one of the 25 largest banks in the United States by deposits – by Santander Group. This initiative is part of a comprehensive $200 million multiyear campaign that includes branch refurbishments, new and upgraded ATMs, and advertising across the bank’s nine-state Northeastern markets.
