Rutgers sports action adds to Broadcast News

Greater Media Broadcast News, which showcases some of the top stories from around central New Jersey each week, now features a segment spotlighting Rutgers University.

Rutgers alumnus Mike Pavlichko and News and Sports Director Bruce Johnson, both well-known personalities on Greater Media radio station WCTC-AM 1450, host the segment and bring a wealth of insight into Rutgers and its sports programs.

Updates on the Scarlet Knights and NCAA Division I sports, college news, editorials and commentary are all within the scope of possibilities for the new Rutgers segment, which Johnson said will bring added value to Greater Media’s already insightful Broadcast News.

“We are qualified to give something a little bit extra that the typical fan may not know, because of our long association with the university,” Johnson said. His 25 years of game calling for the Scarlet Knights and Pavlichko’s firsthand experience at the university back up that claim.

Greater Media Broadcast News is a product of Greater Media Newspapers, a group of 11 weekly news publications covering Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

For Greater Media Newspapers Executive Editor Donna Kenyon, introducing WCTC’s expertise into the mix is an excellent way to bolster the burgeoning broadcast.

“WCTC’s report on the Rutgers scene will enhance the weekly Greater Media Broadcast News segment by providing our readers with even more information about what is important to them in central New Jersey,” she said.

“We strive to appeal to the interests of all of our readers by offering timely headline news, and coverage of the arts, entertainment and local sports.

“The Rutgers sports program certainly has wide appeal in central New Jersey and beyond,” Kenyon said. “We welcome the contributions by WCTC News and Sports Director Bruce Johnson and WCTC Assistant Sports Director Mike Pavlichko. They add their professionalism and experience to our team of gifted writers and editors.”
