Mr. McCarthy, 50, of West Long Branch, died Sept. 23. He was the chief of police in Red Bank. He was a member of the Monmouth County and New Jersey State Associations of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He was an active member of the PBA Local 39. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy (235th class), 2004 West Point Command and Leadership Program, and the National Training Center of Polygraph Science. He is survived by his wife, Maryellen; a son, Matthew; a daughter, Jenna; a brother, Robert; his mother, Elizabeth; his father, Stephen; his mother-in-law, Teresa Ferrigno; two sister-in-laws, Chrissy Mellaci and Lisa Ferrigno; two brother-inlaws, Jim Mellaci and Rob Ferrigno; and many other relatives. Arrangements were entrusted to the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, West End. Interment followed at Mt.
