MANVILLE: Dentist will exchange kids’ candy for cash

Annual Halloween tradition for Manville Dental Group

   What’s a ghost’s favorite candy? Boo-ble gum!
Kidding aside, after Halloween trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Manville Dental Group on Washington Avenue and receive $1 per pound.
Dr. Gary Small and Nirali Trivedi are leading this anti-decay movement by giving away dollars and non-sweet treats in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.
”Visiting the dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. Small. “Kids can still have all the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well. Plus, our goodie bags are full with great stuff!”
Goodie bags included items donated from Manville Pizzaria (free slice of pie), Jim’s Pretzels, Bananna’s Frozen Yogurt, Pizza and Pasta, and Monster Mini-Golf, as well as toothbrushes, paste and dental things.
Manville Dental Group also hosts a candy drive at Roosevelt School in which an ice-cream party is thrown for the class in each grade that collects the most candy.
Candy will be collected at office at 7 Washington Ave. on Monday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 7 p.m. Children must be between two and 12 years old and accompanied by an adult. Candy must be unopened.
All candy is donated to Operation Shoebox NJ and sent overseas to New Jersey-based soldiers.
