PLAINSBORO — Merwick Rehabilitation was evacuated Tuesday morning due to a fire.
The Plainsboro Fire Department, under the command of Chief James Pedley, extinguished the fire at 100 Plainsboro Road just after 9 a.m.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
”It was quick thinking on the part of staff to move patients outside of the wing,” Chief Pedley said. “It was a really a big help.”
Patients were moved out of the area and taken to other nearby facilities, according to Chief Pedley. The one-alarm fire started in a room on the first floor of the facility. Heavy smoke poured out of a window where curtains had been burning. The fire was possibly electrical in nature, Chief Pedley said, but the fire official was called in to further investigate.
The Princeton Plasmas Physics Laboratory, Princeton and Hightstown fire departments also responded to the scene as did the Plainsboro Township Emergency Medical Services.
