LAMBERTVILLE: CROP Walk on Sunday

The Delaware Valley Interfaith Council (DVIC) will hold the Lambertville and New Hope area Crop Walk on Oct. 20.

The Delaware Valley Interfaith Council (DVIC) will hold the Lambertville and New Hope area Crop Walk on Oct. 20.
The local congregations that make up the Council have been sponsoring a Crop Walk since 1974. The fundraising effort supports the struggle against hunger in third world countries and also returns 25 percent of pledges to the local Lambertville Food Pantry.
Two walks have been planned in the Lambertville area: a 10K walk and a shorter 5K walk. Both include refreshments.
Registration is from 12:45-1 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church at Jefferson Avenue and North Union Street in Lambertville.
Participants are asked to bring a can of soup or jar of peanut butter for the Lambertville Food Pantry, and start their walk at 1 p.m.
The volunteers at the Lambertville Food Pantry continue to provide food and personal products to hundreds in the community.
”We are able to continue this effort because of the generous support of the clergy and members of the congregations in the Interfaith Council, donors, and local merchants,” said a spokesman.
Donate directly to this effort by visiting www.cwsglobal.org. Select “Find a Walk” and enter “08530.” That should bring you to the Lambertville Crop Walk area where you can pledge to support local and global relief from hunger.
