The Guild of Creative Art’s 21st annual Open Juried Show features 54 paintings selected from the 106 submitted, 32 photographs selected from 62 submissions, and eight sculptures of 11 submitted.
Independent judge Stephen McKenzie selected the entries and awards, which were presented at the Sept. 29 opening reception held at the gallery in Shrewsbury.
The show is on display until Oct. 30.
Best in Painting was awarded to Shan-Shun Yao of Holmdel for the oil painting “Woman Sweeping.” Best in Photography went to Mark Schwartz of Wayside for his black-and-white “Beachwalkers.” Best in Sculpture was awarded to Mitsu Walters of Albrightsville, Pa., for her marble sculpture “Quiet Time.”
The Mitchell Award for Acrylic went to Annette Margulies, Long Branch; the Friedlander Award for Abstract to William Rackin, Lumberton; the Award for Artistic Innovation to Christina Sanes, Manasquan; the Nick Caivano Memorial Award for Excellence in Oil to Lizzi Schippert, Island Heights; the Nick Caivano Memorial Award for Excellence in Watercolor to Robert Nardolillo, Freehold; the Nick Caivano Memorial Award for Excellence in Photography to Marilyn M. Baldi, Tinton Falls; the Ozzie Arnts Memorial Award for Oil, Maddy Cohen, West Long Branch, for “Sept 11: My City is Burning”; and the Evelyn Leavens Memorial Award for Watercolor to Frank Colaguori, West Long Branch.
