Colonial American Bank presented Robert Solomon of Colts Neck with an iPad Mini for being the winner of the “Guess the Pennies” contest at the new Shrewsbury branch. Solomon’s entry of 8,875 pennies was the closest guess to the actual number of pennies in the jar — 8,897.
Applebee’s restaurants will celebrate Halloween with free children’s meals to trickor treaters age 12 and under on Oct. 31. Up to two youngsters can receive a free entrée from the children’s menu — dine-in only — with each adult entrée purchased. To add to the festivities, servers will be dressed up as superheroes and fun characters. The offer is valid at Applebee’s restaurants in New Jersey.
As part of its ongoing commitment to enhance communications with state, county and municipal officials, Jersey Central Power & Light announced that three new area managers have been added to its external affairs team.
These new hires join seven current JCP&L area managers who serve as company external affairs liaisons, working with municipal, county and state officials throughout northern and central New Jersey, as well as supporting community involvement activities.
The new area managers include Jacqueline DeFelice, who covers portions of Monmouth County and is based at JCP&L’s Union Beach office.
“Adding these highly qualified representatives is expected to help us enhance our outreach and collaboration efforts with elected officials and customers in the communities we serve,” said Mark Jones, vice president of external affairs.
DeFelice, a resident of Middletown, joined JCP&L in 1983 and has held a variety of positions in customer service, most recently serving as advanced customer service specialist. She also has worked as a budget analyst.
OceanFirst Foundation recently awarded the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore a $10,000 grant to help fund its Girls Are Great summer day camp, as well as additional outreach programs.
Girls Are Great, run by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and held at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, provides summer programming to girls from low-income households. From STEM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), to creative arts, to swimming, girls enjoy a week of summer day camp with a Girl Scout focus.
In addition, OceanFirst Foundation’s donation also helps Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, which serves more than 13,000 girls in Monmouth and Ocean counties, continue its outreach efforts to girls in need.
Many Girl Scout members are still feeling the effects of superstorm Sandy and, with funding from organizations like OceanFirst Foundation, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore hopes to help restore a sense of normalcy to those affected or displaced.
