STOCKTON: Route 29 bridge over Wickecheoke Creek to be rebuilt

Meeting Wednesday to describe work, which could take a year

Reconstruction of the Route 29 bridge over the Wickecheoke Creek in Delaware Township and Stockton is planned.
A public meeting to describe the details is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Delaware Township Municipal Building, 570 Rosemont-Ringoes Road, Sergeantsville.
The state Department of Transportation proposes replacing the existing bridge deck and beams with new pre-cast concrete beams and cost-in-place decking, and repaving the approaches.
The bridge would be reconstructed in two stages, with half the bridge width remaining open in each stage. This will allow one lane of alternating traffic on Route 29 throughout the work.
Construction would begin in the fall and last about one year, the DOT said.
People are encouraged to attend, or provide comments by mail or email to Meredith Hammond, regional manager, Office of Community Relations, NJ Department of Transportation, Trenton, NJ 08625-0600. The phone is 609-530-4555 or 609-530-2110, and the fax number is 609-530-4638.
