To the editor:
This is the first year in many years that the Democratic Party has had control of the Bordentown Township Committee. It has been both an exciting year as well as a productive year for our residents. We have been proactive not reactive.
Our business /commercial climate is changing positively. We have a strong Economic Development Committee, the start of quarterly Business Advisory Committee meetings, a newly established business directory on our website and we are reviewing our sign ordinance.
We are beginning to market our township to encourage new clean commercial ratables, which will provide tax relief for our residents. An example is the new warehouse that has been approved on Bordentown-Hedding Road.
We have improved the transparency in government and we have an active Environmental Commission. The finances of the township are in good order as evidenced by the improvement of our bond rating. We have provided a new sense of community by making numerous events available to our residents.
Although space will not permit me to elaborate on all our accomplishments, if you like the progress that the Democratic leadership has provided for you, please join me in voting for the Democratic candidate for Township Committee, Sal Schiano, on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Sal will permit us to continue our agenda for a better Bordentown Township.
