HAMILTON: Engineers unions endorse Yaede

HAMILTON — Last week, Republican Mayor Kelly A. Yaede’s campaign announced the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 has endorsed the incumbent mayoral candidate.
In a campaign release, representatives of the union cited Mayor Yaede’s strong record of economic development for making the endorsement.
”Mayor Yaede understands the importance of economic development and there is no doubt that, thanks to Mayor Yaede’s leadership, Hamilton Township’s economic development will continue to grow,” said Greg Lalevee, business manager of the Local 825. “Economic development is important for jobs, not only for our members but also for residents. We are pleased with Mayor Yaede’s record of economic development and look forward to continuing the progress that has been made.”
The union is headquartered in Springfield, and represents more than 6,500 operating engineers throughout New Jersey and five counties of lower New York. Its members operate heavy-equipment – such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, pavers, pile drivers, backhoes and loaders – to execute large construction tasks and earthworks operations, according to the release.
Mayor Yaede was said she appreciated the union’s support.
”I am honored to receive the endorsement of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825,” Mayor Yaede said. “This recognition of Hamilton Township’s strong record of economic development is a testament to the hard work and decisions we have made over the last several years to keep Hamilton Township moving forward as the economic leader in Mercer County.
”The endorsement by the Operating Engineers is proof positive that Hamilton continues to head in the right direction and that our economic future is bright,” she added.
Democratic candidate Barbara Plumeri and Antonio Gambino, an independent candidate, are challenging Mayor Yaede in the Nov. 5 election.
