A 16-year-old Lawrence Township girl has been charged with robbery and theft for allegedly taking jewelry and socks, valued at $100, from J.C. Penney at 6:42 p.m. Nov. 2, according to police.
The girl concealed the items in her pocket and left the store, police said. A store security guard apprehended her outside the store and asked her to go to the office, but she refused.
As the store security guard attempted to guide her back into the store, she allegedly punched the security guard in the chest. She grabbed the store security guard’s shirt and allegedly threatened to fight with the guard. The guard was able to break free, and the teenager fled.
Police apprehended the girl behind the Firestone tire store outside the Quaker Bridge Mall. She was taken to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center.
