The Navesink Garden Club is sponsoring a free program, “Wild Winter: Elixirs and Spices From the Native Garden,” at 1 p.m. Nov. 19 at The Atrium at Navesink Harbor, 40 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. The program is open to the public and will be presented by Rachael Mackow, a writer, photographer, lecturer and naturalist.
Mackow will discuss how to use the spice rack and medicine cabinet for warming, aromatic spices and remedies to ease cold-season complaints. She will also talk about winter survival and the traditional uses of native and non-native plants, including edible and medicinal species.
