POLICE BLOTTER: Oct. 17

   • The Manville Department of Public Works reported criminal mischief to a swing set at 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 7. Patrol reported one of the swing set’s ropes was burned during the night, the damage is estimated at $100.
• On Oct. 7 at 10:17 a.m. a wire was down and on fire on West Camplain Road and South 124th Ave. The police, rescue squad, fire department and PSEG were dispatched to the scene.
• A security guard at Adesa Auto Auction reported, at 12:53 p.m. on Oct. 7, a 2010 Red Toyota Corolla was stolen from Adesa. Security at Adesa said it had been unable to locate the car since May 3.
• On Oct. 7 at 4:43 p.m. a Gress Street resident reported a tree struck his house and fence. The caller estimated the damage is $10,000 and wanted to make the incident a matter of the record.
• A West Frech Avenue man reported a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Kennedy and South Main Street at 4:52 p.m. on Oct. 7. Patrol responded and spoke with the North 19th Avenue man who said he was stopped on the side of the road to fix something in his vehicle. Patrol reported everything was OK.
• A North 6th Avenue man reported hearing “popping” noises coming from the wires in front of his home at 5:08 p.m. on Oct. 7. Patrol responded, but did not hear any noises. PSEG was contacted.
• A Walmart employee reported at 7:28 p.m. on Oct. 7 her Galaxy 4S cell phone was stolen from her cash register. The estimated value is about $560.
• A North 8th Avenue woman reported hearing a loud noise near her front door at 11:11 p.m. on Oct. 8. Patrol responded and identified the noise was coming from a rabbit in a cage in the second floor apartment.
• On Oct. 9 at 2:24 a.m. a North 7th Avenue woman reported being awakened by a loud noise in her driveway. Patrol responded and located a possum in her garbage can that was making the noise.
• On Oct. 9 at 9:39 a.m. a Walmart employee reported a man left the store with several items totaling $848. Patrol to investigate.
• A caller reported on Oct. 9 at 2:53 p.m. illegal dumping off of the boat launch on Wilhousky Street Patrol responded and confirmed the illegal dumping and will investigate.
• On Oct. 9 at 5:12 p.m. a caller reported an employee stole items from Walmart totaling $516. 85. Patrol arrested the employee who was served with a criminal complaint summons and released pending court.
• The manager of the South Main Street CVS reported the theft of several items at 9:21 a.m. on Oct. 10. The items are valued at $25. 27.
• On Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m. an Adesa employee reported losing his wallet while at work on Oct. 9. The wallet contained his New Jersey driver’s license, credit cards and personal papers.
• A South 18th Avenue man reported, on Oct. 10 at 1:12 p.m., several items were stolen from his home over the past week. The items are valued at $2,250. Patrol to investigate.
• On Oct. 10 at 1:37 p.m. a complainant reported the theft of Pennsylvania dealer tag. The caller said the tag was stolen between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. The item is valued at $5.
• On Oct. 10 at 7:43 p.m. a caller reported the fire alarm was sounding from the basement of a building on West Camplain Road. Police, firefighters and the rescue squad respond as well as the building inspector. The building was shut down and the tenants were placed at a Days Inn while the building was repaired. It was concluded that the alarm was not operating correctly because of an improper connection between the phone line and the alarm system.
• An anonymous caller reported, on Oct. 10 at 8:16 p.m., a child was left in a parked Honda by the Dollar Zone in the Market Place lot. The caller reported the child was possibly in the car without any adults. Patrol responded but the vehicle was gone on arrival.
• On Friday at 3:27 p.m. a caller reported smelling burning on Mazur Street. Police, firefighters and the rescue squad were dispatched. After speaking with the resident, it was made a matter of the record.
• An anonymous caller reported people might be stealing metal off of the railroad tracks at 4:01 p.m. on Friday. Patrol responded and found negative results.
• On Friday at 6:40 p.m. it was reported that a burglar alarm was going off at Skydell Contracting on North Weiss Street. Patrol responded and reported finding an open door. The building was secured.
• A Manville resident was assaulted at the Manville High School football field at 8:08 p.m. on Friday. Police to investigate.
• On Friday at 10:12 p.m. a Quick Chek employee reported a customer was refusing to leave the store. Patrol responded and reported the customer left voluntarily.
• On Saturday at 3:51 a.m. a South Street caller reported that her iPhone 4S was stolen at 1:30 a.m. The estimated value is $200.
• A North 2nd Avenue woman reported on Saturday at 6:18 p.m. losing her wallet in Bridgewater between 4 and 6 p.m. The black wallet contained her New Jersey driver’s license.
• On Saturday at 9:13 p.m. a woman came to police headquarters and reported $200 was stolen from her wallet at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 8. She said the incident occurred when she left her wallet unattended in her shopping cart at Walmart.
• On Sunday at 4:47 p.m. a caller reported a shoplifter was running from Walmart. Patrol responded and arrested the alleged shoplifter, a Bridgewater resident. The person was charged and bail set at $1,000; the person was transported to county jail.
