Items taken from police records
A representative of the ARC in Manville called at 10:33 a.m. Nov. 4 to report that over a period of time someone had withdrawn $15,000 with five fake checks from an ARC bank account. Patrolman Chris Morrison is investigating.
• A woman came to headquarters at 2:11 p.m. Nov. 4 to report that her greenish/blue mountain bicycle had been stolen from her North Main Street residence in the afternoon of Nov. 1. It was valued at about $35.
• A woman told police at 2:06 p.m. Nov. 4 that sometime on Nov. 1 someone took her credit card and used it to buy $346.63 worth of merchandise from various locations. She also said 118 oxycodone pills prescribed to her were taken. Patrolman Nickolas Franzoso was to investigate.
• At 3:21 p.m. Nov. 4 a vehicle’s passenger side panel was reported “keyed” at Manville High School, resulting in about $300 in damage.
• A South 3rd Avenue woman came to headquarters at 10:33 a.m. Nov. 5 to report someone had stolen a $38 check made out to her on Oct. 23. Police are investigating.
• A woman came to headquarters at about noon Nov. 5 to report that three unauthorized withdrawals, totaling $225.99, were made on her bank debit card between Sept. 6 and 10.
• County communications reported an infant having trouble breathing on Jackson Avenue at 2 p.m. Nov. 5. Patrols, squad and mobile intensive care unit were dispatched and the rescue squad took the 2-week-old baby to Somerset Medical Center for treatment.
• A Vermont Avenue woman told police at 2:07 p.m. Nov. 5 that someone had opened a credit card account in her name and charged about $5,000 on it. She was entered in national crime records as an identity theft victim. Patrolman Franzoso is investigating.
• A Walmart employee said he had an alleged shoplifter in custody at 3 p.m. Nov. 5. Vincent Kiukys, 61, of Millstone was charged with taking $17.98 worth of merchandise. He was booked and turned over to Cherry Hill police on a pending warrant.
• At 8:35 a.m. Nov. 6 a complainant on North Main Street reported selling a piano on Craig’s List and receiving a check for much more than the asking price.
• A man called at 12:35 p.m. Nov. 6 to say shoppers followed and photographed him and his vehicle when he left Walmart on North Main Street when his child had a “full screaming tantrum,” thinking he may be a kidnapper, police said.
• A West Camplain Road man turned in property he found above a drop ceiling tile, according to a report at 1:48 p.m. Nov. 6. The property belonged to a Maryland woman who was a victim of theft or fraud in 2010. She was contacted and said would come the next day to retrieve items.
• Amanda Pugliese, 20, of Brick was charged with prostitution and drug offenses following a joint investigation by county prosecutors and Manville detectives at Delilah’s Den on Washington Avenue. She was booked and released on a summons complaint.
• A mother told police at about 8 p.m. Nov. 6 that her 14-year-old son had bought cigarettes and cigars on numerous occasions from Manville Food and Tobacco on South Main Street. Patrols told the business of the complaint and an investigation continues. While there, the store owner told the officer that he had been verbally harassed by a man a few hours earlier. The owner was advised of his right to sign complaints, and the accused was told he was not welcome at the store.
• Lisa Wall, 51, of Manville was charged with shoplifting $46.67 worth of merchandise at Walmart on North Main Street at 8:47 p.m. Nov. 6. She was released after being given a summons.
• Francis X. Friel, 32, of Raritan was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia in a motor vehicle stop on North Main Street at 12:30 a.m. Nov. 8. He was released on his recognizance.
• A South 13th Avenue man said at 9:21 a.m. Nov. 8 Friday that the two passenger-side tires on his vehicle were slashed sometime overnight while parked in the driveway. Patrols didn’t find anything amiss in the area. Estimated damage is $400.
• A woman came to headquarters at 10:40 a.m. Saturday Nov. 8 and said, while traveling east on Brooks Boulevard at North Main Street, her vehicle was struck by an individual riding a bicycle. Handlebars hit the side panel, but no visible damage was seen. It was reported for the record.
• A North 3rd Avenue woman called at 5:42 p.m. Nov. 8 Friday and said she was at work in Scotch Plains but realized her car was stolen from her house. Several minutes later, the report says, Hardyston police called and said that her vehicle was just involved in a motor vehicle crash in that township. An investigation continues.
• A caller reported a disorderly male at Quick Chek on Brooks Boulevard at 2:14 a.m. Nov. 10 Sunday. A 37-year-old Manville man was taken to Somerset Medical Center with a cut on his hand.
