HAMILTON — Organizers have announced the third annual Bromley Neighborhood Cleanup event will take place April 19, 2014.
According to the event’s GoFundMe webpage, the Bromley neighborhood, an urban area of Hamilton, is filled with people who need a hand cleaning up the spaces that are neglected, the homes that are abandoned and the yards that are littered.
The first cleanup in 2012 was considered a significant success with over 100 volunteers.though organizers acknowledged getting resources to facilitate the cleanup was a struggle
For this year’s event, apart from expanding the area to be cleaned, organizers seek to paint more boarded up doors and windows as well as purchasing mountable garbage cans and building a community garden.
A group of mothers have come forward with a desire to mentor neighborhood children and invite them to paint garbage cans so they feel ownership.
The cleanup will specifically include two parks and vacant lots as well.
The group needs help purchasing work gloves, garbage bags, rakes, paint, paint brushes, brooms, hedge clippers and graffiti removal solvents.
