Hillsborough Spartans Get Recognized

By Amanda Boyer
Earlier this week, Immaculata High School in Somerville, N.J, honored the boys’ soccer team celebrating their record of 9-6-2 and carrying the team the furthest they have gone in school history in the Nonpublic Group A NJSIAA Tournament.
During the banquet two senior Hillsborough natives that previously played together on the Hillsborough middle school boys’ soccer team in 2009 were both honored at the most valuable players for 2013 season.
Forward Eric Boyer was the lead scorer this season for the Spartans carrying the teams in wins against Somerville, Rutgers Prep and Holy Cross.  Boyer had a total of eight goals and an assist this season.
Goalkeeper Ryan Papp was also honored that night with having a total of 74 saves this season. He helped the Spartans advance to semifinals with saves against Holy Cross and St. Augustine.
These two players have roots from Hillsborough and have used their strengths and skills to help Immaculata’s Soccer Program advance, these two young men are both promising on and off the field.
