A 41-year-old Millstone resident was arrested after police discovered more than seven pounds of marijuana plants in the trunk of his car.

PLAINSBORO — A 41-year-old Millstone resident was arrested after police discovered more than seven pounds of marijuana plants in the trunk of his car.
Douglas M. Prestup was charged with distribution of marijuana over five pounds, distribution of marijuana near a public park, possession of marijuana over 50 grams and possession of prescription pills after a traffic stop on Plainsboro Road at 12:19 p.m. on Nov. 15, according to the Plainsboro Township Police.
Police pulled Mr. Prestup’s 2002 tan Buick Le Sabre over for an inoperable brake light and obstructed view, according to police.While speaking with the driver, the patrolman became suspicious that Mr. Prestup was in possession of marijuana. After further investigation, his vehicle was subsequently impounded pending the application for a search warrant, according to police.
Police discovered $15,000 worth of marijuana plants in the trunk of the vehicle and a small amount of illegal prescription pills in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, according to police.
Mr. Prestup was later taken into custody at his residence without incident, according to police.
Mr. Prestup was also issued traffic summonses for maintenance of lamps, obstructed view and having controlled dangerous substances in a motor vehicle, according to police.
Mr. Prestup was subsequently taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in lieu of $30,000 bail.
The New Jersey State Police assisted in Mr. Prestup’s arrest, according to police.
