BORDENTOWN: BRHS to stage play for children

‘James and the Giant Peach,’ the play for children based on the classic book by Roald Dahl, will be presented at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

BORDENTOWN — “James and the Giant Peach,” the play for children based on the classic book by Roald Dahl, will be presented at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
   This adaptation by Richard R. George tells of the adventures of young James and his amazing insect friends. This play is suggested for children ages four through ten, and will be presented by the award-winning Bordentown Regional High School Theatre Club.
   The performance will be followed by cookies and milk with the cast in the cafeteria. Tickets are $5, and can be purchased in advance at www.seatyourself.biz/brhs. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

   Young James Trotter (played by senior Lexi Maiorano) lives with his cruel aunts Spiker (senior Marissa Migliarino) and Sponge (junior Dakota Torres). He escapes his sad life when he discovers a gigantic, magical peach and its crew of friendly insects. Alongside his newfound friends, James sets off on a wild adventure he will never forget.
   This production is directed by senior Simone Parrish and is performed by a cast of fourteen actors.
   In 2012, Bordentown Regional High School’s musical, Legally Blonde, was awarded the prestigious Greater Philadelphia Cappie Award for Outstanding Musical. Over the past four years, the Greater Philadelphia Cappie Awards have honored BRHS Theatre performances with twenty-seven nominations and ten awards.
   The theatrical performances of BRHS have also been honored with awards and nominations from the New Jersey State Thespian Festival and the New Jersey Theatre Night Awards. Bordentown Regional High School is home to International Thespian Society Troupe 6803.
   The Bordentown Performing Arts Center is attached to Bordentown Regional High School, and is located at 318 Ward Avenue in Bordentown, and is a 942-seat facility established with the goal of bringing local, regional and world renowned cultural performances to their community.
