Cause of car crash under investigation

HAMILTON — An infant has died following a two-vehicle crash at Klockner Road at Whatley Road last week.
   According to police, the accident, in which a passenger was also injured, occurred at 3:21 p.m. on Nov. 20.
   Cheryl Gould, 30, of Tabernacle, was driving her 2000 Hyundai Elantra station wagon westbound in the interior left lane on Klockner Road approaching a traffic light controlled intersection at Whatley Road, police said.
   ”She initiated a left turn onto southbound Whatley Road, but failed to observe the truck approaching,” said Lt. James Petrecca, of the Hamilton Police Traffic Division, in a press release.
   Drew Bruschi, 34, of Hamilton, the driver of a 2013 GMC Sierra truck, observed Ms. Gould turning left and attempted to avoid impact by steering left, police said.
   ”The front right portion of the truck struck the passenger side of the turning Hyundai,” Lt. Petrecca said.
   Ms. Gould and her two children, a 5-year-old daughter and 28-day-year-old, son, whose names are being withheld, were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton where the son was pronounced dead.
   Passenger Marion Bonfonti, 50, Hamilton, was transported to Capital Health-Fuld Campus, Trenton, for treatment of her injuries, Lt. Petrecca said.
   The investigation is being conducted by Officer Robert Gray.

   The cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said.
