HILLSBOROUGH: Early-morning fire displaces a family of 3

An early-morning fire Tuesday in a single-family home displaced its three residents.
Police said they received a 9-1-1 call at 2:43 a.m. that a two-story house at 5 Abby Court, between Woods and Amsterdam roads, was on fire. Officers found flames when they arrived, but they quickly determined that the homeowner and her two adult children had gotten out, and no injuries were reported.
The building suffered “significant damage,” said police, and it was deemed uninhabitable. Arrangements were made with the Hillsborough Office of Emergency Management and Social Services Department to shelter the family.
Cause of the fire is being investigated. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 908-369-4323, ext. 8.
Several hours after the initial response, Alexandra Sevostyanova, 55, was taken to Somerset Medical Center to be checked for possible smoke inhalation. Also in the house were her son, Stanislav, 25, and daughter, also Alexandra, 19.
Six fire companies responded, including all four that cover Hillsborough, and one each from Franklin Township and Millstone Valley. Hillsborough and Somerville rescue squads were on the scene, too, as well as the fire safety bureau.
