PLUMSTED: Township to host tree lighting

Township Mayor Dave Leutwyler and the Township Committee along with Main Street New Egypt have announced the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for New Egypt’s official Christmas tree on Saturday, Dec. 7.

PLUMSTED — Township Mayor Dave Leutwyler and the Township Committee along with Main Street New Egypt have announced the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for New Egypt’s official Christmas tree on Saturday, Dec. 7.
   The ceremony will take place at the township municipal building located at 121 Evergreen Road beginning at 6 pm. Committeeman Herb Marinari, owner of Big Woods Nursery, donated the official tree.
   The New Egypt Volunteer Fire Company and their big red fire engine will make a guest appearance with Santa and Mrs. Claus on board. Free pictures of your child with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be provided.
   In addition, Brenn Swanson, a local resident and world renowned stilt walker, will make a special guest appearance. The Plumsted Township Drug and Alcohol Alliance and Daisy Troop 38 will serve hot chocolate and cookies.
   The Plumsted Arts Council will host its annual Gingerbread House contest immediately following the Tree Lighting Ceremony. For information contact Rebecca Nowalski at [email protected].
   Main Street New Egypt will also collect non-perishable items for the Plumsted Business & Merchants Association Food Drive at the ceremony that evening. Participants are also invited to bring an ornament to decorate the tree.
