Elks sponsor swing-style trio in concert
By John Tredrea, Special Writer
When Sergeantsville resident and Flemington Elks member Patti DeLuca heard the swing style trio The Dolls in concert, she had a brainstorm.
”I saw The Dolls at the Hunterdon County Fair, and in New York City,” Ms. DeLuca said. “I thought it’d be great if we could get them to perform at one of the fundraisers our Elks lodge puts on.”
And get them they did. The Dolls will perform holiday favorites in concert at the Flemington Elks lodge on Route 31 on Sunday, Dec. 1.
”Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Santa Baby” are among the many seasonal numbers the harmonizing Dolls will perform.
The event lasts from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and includes a buffet luncheon and desserts. Cash bar will be available. For info, call 908-528-7328.
To get tickets and other information, call Ms. DeLuca at 908-528-7328.
The proceeds of the show will help the Elks many good-will efforts.
”We do a lot of benefit events to help out with the programs we sponsor,” Ms. DeLuca said. “One of them is Camp Moore in northern New Jersey. It’s a camp for children with special needs.”
Closer to home is the Pittstown-based Riding With Heart program.
”It provides horse riding lessons for special needs children,” Ms. DeLuca said. “They really enjoy them. It means a lot to them to have that opportunity. Our Elks lodge also helps the Hunterdon Developmental Center.”
The Elks also donate to area food pantries, Safe in Hunterdon and veteran groups.
