Mr. Zapata, 66, of North Brunswick, died Oct. 7, 2013. He worked for the Royal Bank of Canada in New York for more than 35 years. He was predeceased by his father, Raul, in 1999 and his first wife, Gail, in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Valerie; his mother, Gregoria Zapata, of Florida; his mother-in-law, Norma Spero; his sons, Joseph R. Zapata Jr. and his wife, Eva, of East Brunswick, and Kenneth Zapata and his wife, Susan, of Staten Island, N.Y. and his stepson, Joey Liotto, of North Brunswick; his grandchildren; his siblings, Raul, Zoe, Elkie, Wally, Carmen, Luisa and Alicia; and his inlaws, cousins, nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends.
