Surfrider Foundation launches ‘Rethink the Coast’ website

The Jersey Shore Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation is encouraging people to “Rethink the Coast” following the anniversary of superstorm Sandy by visiting its new website, re-think.surfrider.org.

“While the rallying cry to ‘Restore the Shore’ certainly galvanized needed action and support, we felt it didn’t allow for the careful reflection and planning we need going forward,” said Christine Bell, co-chair of the Jersey Shore Chapter of Surfrider. “We need to rethink, not just restore.”

The website will highlight news and information about innovative ideas on how to prepare for the next storm. Any seminar, gathering or conference discussing sea-level rise, preparing for the next storm or policies to help prepare for both will be featured.

The website will feature an Instagram feed, so any Instagram photo tagged as #rethinknj will appear on the “Your Photos” section of the website.

The Surfrider Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches through an activist network.
