Fri., Dec. 6
   Tree lighting: Santa Claus will throw switch to light the public tree in gazebo on South Main Street at 7 p.m. The high school chorus will sing holiday songs. Free hot chocolate (donated by Main Street Deli) and gingerbread cookies.
Sat., Dec. 7
   Pearl Harbor remembrance: VFW Post 2290 holds the annual Pearl Harbor ceremony at 6 p.m. at the post on Washington Avenue to remember and honor all those who lost their lives in the 1941 attack that brought the U.S. actively into World War II. The public is invited to attend and help honor those veterans.
   Breakfast with Santa: Free pancake-and-sausage breakfast for Manville residents at VFW hall on Washington Avenue, 9 a.m.-noon. Kids can have their pictures taken with Santa and families can make holiday ornaments together. There’ll be a DJ and dancing. The high school PTSA is helping to organize and will have a donation jar for donations for scholarships and Project Graduation.
Sun., Dec. 8
   Christmas cookie sale: Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 605 Washington Ave., is holding its annual sale starting at 11:20 a.m. sharp. Buy a selection of homemade cookies from around the world. Choose from Russian teacakes, chocolate cherry rugelach, Italian ricotta cookies, Georgian walnut pastries and Greek, Polish, French and American cookies. Visit www.ssppoc.org for information.
   Special photos with Santa: Children with autism or other developmental disabilites can have a photo taken with Santa in a sensory friendly environment, 10 a.m.-noon or 1-3 p.m., TR Activity Center, 355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater. Wed., Dec. 11
   Christmas music: Regina Novicky & Friends will perform their sixth annual free Christmas sing-a-long, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Manville Public Library, 100 South 10th Ave. Regina continues this holiday tradition started by her dad, local musician Nicholas J. Novicky, after he passed in 2007. All ages welcome. Light refreshments and cookies.
   Slavic dinner: St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church holds monthly dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. $12 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and under). All-you-can-eat pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes. A surprise entrée will be prepared by St. Mary’s chef John Pagano. Orders to go are available. Call 908-725-0615.

   Library advisory board: Meets at 6 p.m. in the library at 100 10th Ave.

   Carol sing: The 15th annual Community Christmas Carol Sing, 7 p.m., Emmanuel Baptist Church, 34 South Third Ave. Sing with the band as it performs repertoire of traditional Christmas carols and contemporary favorites.    Breakfast: Monthly parish breakfast in auditorium of Sacred Heart Church, South Main and Filak streets. 8–11:30 a.m. Santa will be there after 10 a.m. Mass. Scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast and potatoes. Adults $5, children 6-12 years old $2, and free for under 5. 908-725-0072.
