Church to host community flea market
Grace Reformed Church will host a 21-family community flea market from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in the church fellowship hall at 2815 Woodbridge Ave., Edison. Entrance to the parking lot is on Old Post Road. New and used clothing, accessories, jewelry, household items, Christmas decorations, children’s books, CDs and DVDs will be for sale.

Opera GoLightly concert fundraiser set for Dec. 7
Opera GoLightly, a Middlesex Countybased light opera company, will be staging the benefit, “Movie Musical Magic: Scenes and Songs from the Silver Screen,” at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 Hillside Ave., Metuchen, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
The fundraiser will feature selections from movie musicals and operettas from the ’30s,
40s and ’50s. Among the scenes performed will be excerpts from “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Babes in Toyland,” “42nd Street,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Knickerbocker Holiday,” “Kismet,” “The King and I,” “Oklahoma,” “Showboat,” “Naughty Marietta,” “The Student Prince” and “Vagabond King.”
The cast will include GoLightly cofounders Janette Goleme, artistic director, and Lester Gesteland, producer, both of Metuchen; accompanist Martin Neron, also from Metuchen; Assistant Director Lindsay Adkins; and choreographer Sara Morris. The cast also includes Tyler Barnick, Warren Carr, Samuel Fuji, Heather Jones, Randy Pradera, Joyce Yin and the newly formed Westerhoff School of Music children’s chorus.
Suggested ticket prices are $15 for adults under age 65, $10 for seniors and $5 for children under 12. Reservations can be made by calling 732-910-7424. Donations for seats or otherwise can be made in advance or at the door.
St. Luke’s Christmas fair to offer holiday goods
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 17 Oak Ave., Metuchen, will hold its annual Christmas fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7. Attendees can shop for handcrafted wood items, Christmas items, handmade crocheted and knitted items, soaps and scents, homemade culinary creations, festive gift items, holiday baskets and antiques.
New items this year include gourmet foods, a poinsettia sale, and wreaths and Christmas decorations from the Metuchen Garden Club. The snack bar will offer homemade soups and comfort foods, and Santa will be visiting on-and-off all day. For more information, call the church at 732- 548-4308.
