Police begin ‘Drive Sober’ campaign

Police officers across the state will be cracking down on drunken drivers as part of the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday campaign.

Through Jan. 2, local and state law enforcement officers will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated.

The following tips can help avoid drunken driving or severe injuries should a motor vehicle accident occur:

Take mass transit or a taxi, or ask a sober friend to drive.

Spend the night at the place where the activity is held.

If an impaired driver is on the road, contact law enforcement.

 Always use a seat belt.

Do not let others drive while intoxicated.
