Repeal the Affordable Care Act

A recent letter, “Affordable Care Act to Benefit Many” (The Hub, Nov. 21), touted the benefits of “Obamacare” (Affordable Care Act). Never has there been a law so poorly named.

Although mandating the covering of pre-existing conditions is a noble cause, it will be a very costly benefit, paid for by those without such conditions.

The same goes for providing health care to “children” who are 18-26, which will also be paid for by those without young adults in the family.

Adding tons of benefits for women without charging them more means those costs will be borne by men who won’t be getting free mammograms or birth control.

All of this is in addition to the many other costs and taxes mandated by the bill — many of dubious benefit — and the vastly increased size of the federal bureaucracy and budget to oversee all this.

Yet, the bill does nothing to rein in frivolous malpractice and related lawsuits.

There is no free lunch. Like most supporters, the person who wrote in apparently never read the “affordable” health care act — I have.

This program will cost the country trillions of dollars and reduce the quality of health care.

It should be repealed before it is too late, and replaced with a real affordable health care law designed by medical professionals instead of pandering politicians and lawyers. Mick Seeley Oceanport
