State’s ‘dark’ history to be explored Dec. 8

The East Brunswick Historical Society will open its new exhibit, “New Jersey … The Dark Side,” with a program set for 2-4 p.m. Dec. 8 at the historical society, 78 Milltown Road.

Guest speaker will be Marc Mappen, historian, author and professor at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. The program is the first in a five-part series.

The new exhibit features the Lindbergh baby kidnapping, tales of the Ku Klux Klan, slavery in New Jersey, murders, Prohibition and the gangster mobs, racial discrimination, child labor, schools, women’s suffrage and the murder of state trooper Werner Foerster.
