COUNTY: Input sought on river route plan

Burlington County officials are seeking the public’s input on the River Route region through an online survey.

Burlington County officials are seeking the public’s input on the River Route region through an online survey.
The region is an area of the county with a unique cultural identity, geography, and history, according to the county website.
The municipalities that make up this region include Palmyra, Riverton, Cinnaminson, Delran, Riverside, Delanco, Beverly, Edgewater Park, Willingboro, Burlington City, Burlington Township and Florence.
To help shape the future of this region and to enhance its the quality of life, a committee was formed in 1995 and began strategic planning that resulted in the adoption of the 1998 “Route 130 Corridor Plan” by the Burlington County Freeholders and the 12 contingent municipalities.
The plan, according to the county website, outlined strategies and projects for land use, housing, economic development, historic preservation, public facilities, transportation, redevelopment and open space, which would create benefits, both locally and regionally.
Most notable among these is the New Jersey Transit River Line commuter rail, which crosses the entire region and connects many of the region’s town centers.
After 15 year of implementation, county officials seek input to assess the progress of the original plan, update its goals, and, once again, plan for the future of the River Route Region.
