LETTER: Building bridges between business and government

To the editor:
The Bordentown Township Committee and Economic Development Advisory Committee recently sponsored a business breakfast at Town and Country Restaurant. The meeting was well attended by local business people. This is the beginning of establishing a partnership between government and business. These meetings will be held once a quarter.
A strong EDAC has been formed. The membership is composed of eight business leaders, three ex-officio members and two employees of the township. We are in the process of formulating a marketing plan aimed at expansion of business-commercial properties.
A directory of local business has been prepared and can be accessed through the Bordentown Township website, www.bordentowntownship.com. I encourage all readers to check out the website and learn what is available. The directory will be expanded and updated. This is a great opportunity for local business to take advantage of free advertising.
Our ad hoc sign committee is in the process of reworking our current sign ordinance in response to the communicated needs of local business persons.
On behalf of the Bordentown Township business community, I encourage you to shop locally. Remember, “Bordentown Township is Open for Business.”
