Holiday celebration is this weekend
The annual Victorian Christmas celebration will be presented by the New Hope Historical Society at the Parry Mansion on Dec. 14 and 15 from 1-4 p.m. each day.
Where did Mistletoe come from? When did we start bringing trees inside the house for Christmas? How do you make plum pudding and can it really be eaten? And who really was Saint Nicholas?
Visitors will learn about these and many more Victorian Christmas customs and décor as they receive a guided tour of the mansion.
”We are delighted to present this festive day again this year,” said Dee Dee Bowman, president of the Historical Society.
”We had a wonderful attendance last year as hundreds of visitors toured the mansion and enjoyed the presentations that were conducted by our trained docents and tour guides,” she added.
Members of the Historical Society’s board of directors gathered last week to decorate five elegant rooms on the first floor of the Parry Mansion.
Hot cider and cookies will be served to all visitors. Admission is free and open to the public.
