PLUMSTED: Police seeking suspect in armed robbery

Township detectives have issued warrants for two suspects believed to be involved in the armed robbery of an 18-year-old man in the Oakford Lake section on Nov. 24.

PLUMSTED — Township detectives have issued warrants for two suspects believed to be involved in the armed robbery of an 18-year-old man in the Oakford Lake section on Nov. 24.
   After police issued the warrants Nov. 29, officers were able to arrest one of the suspects, a minor from Pemberton.
   Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, said the suspect was arrested at a Wawa on Jacobstown Road in Plumsted.
   The second suspect in the robbery, James Warthen, 22, also of Pemberton, remains at large.
   Mr. Warthen is described as black, five-foot-eight, and weighs 158 pounds, Mr. Della Fave said.
   Bail has been set in advance of his arrest at $100,000 with a no 10 percent option for the crime.
   Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Warthen is asked to contact Detective Brant Uricks or Det. Jason Reilly of the Plumsted Township Police Department at 609-758-7185.
   Authorities urge members of the public to not approach Mr. Warthen or attempt to detain him.
   In a previous release, police said a man leaving the SuperMich Mexican Supermarket on Main Street at 9:30 p.m. was approached bu two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts, one of whom brandished a handgun.
   The victim told police they were ordered to the ground, and the two men stole money and a Sprint iPhone.
