HAMILTON — A teacher at Trenton Catholic Academy earned tasty and educational results through combining ice cream and a science lesson incorporating the alphabet.
TCA teacher Erin Neville used a unique hands-on experiment that got her points across in a fun, delicious lesson, according to a school release.
The students first measured cream, sugar and vanilla, and put the ingredients into a zip-lock sandwich bag.
By adding sea salt to a large container of ice, students lowered the freezing temperature before the bags of cream and sugar were added, and in about 10 minutes, the concoction turned into ice cream.
”The students have so much fun that they don’t realize how much they were learning,” said Ms. Neville. “You should see their faces when they pull out the bags and eat home-made ice cream. They will always think of this lesson when they see the letter ‘I’ or ice cream.”
